Apple has unveiled the new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by its latest M5 chip, delivering a major leap in AI performance and overall speed. The updated MacBook Pro promises up to 3.5 times faster AI workflows, faster storage, and an extraordinary 24 hours of battery life, alongside the new macOS Tahoe.
The M5 chip features a next-generation GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core, a faster CPU, an enhanced Neural Engine, and higher memory bandwidth. These improvements allow users to run large language models, edit 4K video, render 3D scenes, and accelerate AI tasks directly on the device. Apple says the M5 delivers up to 1.6 times faster graphics than the previous generation and 6 times faster AI performance than the M1.
John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, said, “M5 marks the next big leap in AI for the Mac and delivers a huge boost in graphics performance, accelerating demanding workflows for everyone from students to creatives, developers to business professionals.”
The 14-inch MacBook Pro retains its signature Liquid Retina XDR display, now with a nano-texture option, and offers a 12MP Center Stage camera, six-speaker sound system, and a wide array of ports. Apple Intelligence and macOS Tahoe provide advanced productivity features, including Live Translation, updated Spotlight search, and Shortcuts integrated with AI capabilities.
For professionals and creatives, the new MacBook Pro delivers impressive benchmark gains: up to 7.7x faster AI video enhancement in Topaz Video, up to 6.8x faster 3D rendering in Blender, and up to 3.2x higher frame rates in gaming compared to M1 models. The new 16-core Neural Engine accelerates on-device AI tasks, while SSD performance is up to twice as fast as the previous generation.
Apple emphasizes sustainability with the new MacBook Pro, using 45 percent recycled content, 100 percent recycled aluminum in the enclosure, recycled rare earth elements in all magnets, and 100 percent recycled cobalt in the battery. The device is manufactured using 55 percent renewable electricity and ships in fully recyclable fiber-based packaging.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 is available in space black and silver, starting at $1,599 ($1,499 with education pricing). Pre-orders began immediately, with availability in Apple Stores and authorized resellers starting Wednesday, October 22.
With these upgrades, the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 is positioned as a powerful choice for students, creatives, developers, and professionals seeking industry-leading AI performance, graphics, and battery life in a portable form factor.
