A new initiative aimed at supporting families in need has been launched in Birmingham. The West Midlands Multibank, co-founded by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, will provide essential surplus goods to 75,000 families over the next year. The initiative seeks to distribute more than 750,000 items, including clothing, crockery, toiletries, and cleaning supplies, through social workers, teachers, charities, and community groups.
A Growing Initiative to Combat Hardship

Gordon Brown emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating, “The opening of the West Midlands Multibank will provide crucial support to families, schools, and community services across the region. The West Midlands facility marks the latest addition to a growing network of multibanks, which have already helped over 600,000 families across the UK. Previous multibanks have been established in Scotland, Greater Manchester, Wales, London, and Tees Valley, with more than seven million donated items distributed so far.
