Glastonbury Festival 2025 is set to be a landmark event, with US pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo and British rock icons The 1975 confirmed as headliners. Organizers officially announced the lineup, which features an eclectic mix of legendary acts, rising stars, and festival favorites.
Who’s Headlining?
The festival, taking place from June 25 to June 29 at Worthy Farm, will see Olivia Rodrigo, The 1975, and rock legend Neil Young taking the main stage. Rod Stewart will also make a special appearance in the prestigious “legend slot” on Sunday afternoon.
Alongside the main stage performances, Charli XCX, a five-time Brit Award winner, will headline the Other Stage on Saturday, June 28. Rap phenomenon Doechii is set to take the West Holts Stage, while fans can expect debut performances from Alanis Morissette, Noah Kahan, Gracie Abrams, and Lola Young.
The 1975’s First Glastonbury Headline Set
The 1975 are no strangers to major UK festivals, having headlined Reading and Leeds three times since 2016. However, this marks their first time at the top of Glastonbury’s lineup. Known for their signature blend of dance-rock, electronica, and introspective lyrics, the band has built a strong global following. Frontman Matty Healy, famous for his provocative stage presence, has recently sparked controversy for his actions on tour.
The band is currently facing legal action from Malaysian festival organizers after Healy kissed a bandmate on stage in protest against the country’s anti-LGBT laws. The incident led to the event being shut down, stirring international debate on LGBTQ+ rights.
Olivia Rodrigo’s Meteoric Rise
Rodrigo, at just 22 years old, will become the second-youngest Glastonbury headliner ever, following Billie Eilish’s historic performance in 2022. With just two albums, SOUR and GUTS, she has taken the music industry by storm. Her latest GUTS tour generated an impressive $186 million in ticket sales, showcasing her rapid ascent to superstardom.
The singer previously performed at Glastonbury in 2022, where she memorably invited Lily Allen on stage to perform “F*** You,” dedicating the song to the US Supreme Court following their ruling against abortion rights.
Charli XCX’s Big Moment
Charli XCX will headline the Other Stage, marking a significant milestone in her career. Following the success of her experimental and genre-defying album Brat, she has become a dominant force in pop music.
Her performance is expected to be a high-energy showcase of electronic and club sounds, fitting for the Other Stage’s history of featuring boundary-pushing acts. BBC Radio 6 DJ Annie Mac praised the decision, stating, “It makes so much sense for her to counteract Neil Young’s set on Saturday night.”
